‘Goa’ as we all know is known for its scenic beauty and calmness... A land that breathes through its nature and speaks through its culture. A land that has always been echoed as the "Rome of the East", "Tourist Paradise" and "Pearl of the Orient".
It’s not just about the sea and sand... it’s not also about wine n dance.
Frankly speaking most of my non goan colleagues what they know about goa is…
Beaches, Cheap Liquor, and half nude tourists…!!
But I am very sorry to say that…what you people know about Goa is, the picture of Goa that has been portrayed through media and movies. But it is not all false and…not all true!! It is a vague picture of Goa!!
Let me brief you up on the history…
Over the centuries various dynasties have ruled Goa. Kadambas, Chalukyas, and lastly the Portuguese ruled Goa. Portuguese first landed in Goa as merchants, in the early 16th century, and conquered it soon after. Goa was under Portuguese rule for 450 years, until it was liberated on 19th December 1961, and Goa became an Union territory along with Daman and Diu(which is now a part of Maharashtra), and then became a full fledge state(25th State) in 30th May 1987.
Because of this East West meet, Goa possesses rich culture, traditions, and heritage that would surpass any other culture of this country.
Besides the beautiful beaches and scenic beauty, Goa also has old ancient architectures, Forts, Temples, and Churches.
